Quality Control and Compliance
Built
in 2002, our Portland processing facility includes our own QC laboratory.
In addition to being a secure location in which to conduct all types
of standard QC product analysis, our laboratory is equipped to conduct
bacteria testing, histamine testing, and water content analysis. North
Atlantic, Inc.'s rigorous QC protocols include daily monitoring of
bacteria loads on our plant's processing surfaces.
To
ensure the quality and safety of our products, our Portland and Southeast
Asian processing operations are Third Party Audited. The extensive
requirements of these audit protocols encompass food safety, food
security, and process management.
Our Portland processing plant has been Silliker Certified for the
last 5 years and is in the process of becoming BRC Certified. All
North Atlantic, Inc. products produced overseas are packed in Third
Party Audited facilities. Our new Benoa plant is specifically designed
to meet BRC audit criteria. Documentation of our compliance is available
from our auditors upon request.
A mainstay of North Atlantic, Inc.'s overseas operations is the production
of custom cut private label products. To ensure that our customer's
products meet their exact specifications, North Atlantic, Inc. has
developed a system to document the quality of product before it is
shipped to the U.S. North Atlantic, Inc. employs two full-time master
QC inspectors overseas. Besides being responsible for supervising
QC at our plants and suppliers, these employees are responsible for
completing detailed reports called Positive Product Releases. The
releases include documentation of the raw material's origins, production
codes, photographs, and QC reports. In addition to providing our customers
with un-paralleled confidence that their inbound products will meet
their and their customer's requirements, the information speeds FDA
import clearance procedures.
